Booster Shots Are Free And On A Voluntary Basis

The COVID-19 booster dose will be offered for free and on a voluntary basis.

The Health Minister says it will be given to frontliners and senior citizens who have been fully vaccinated for at least 6 months.

This will involve recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine first, who will receive the same vaccine for the booster.

Khairy Jamaluddin says those eligible will get the notification via MySejahtera.

Those who are not using the app will get a text or a call from the vaccination centres.

What is a booster shot?

It is an additional dose that is given to someone who previously had adequate protection against the virus, but had the protection decrease over time.

What is the objective of booster shots?

It is to ensure optimal coverage for COVID-19 vaccine recipients in the country.

The Health Ministry is also planning to conduct a study on mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccine booster shots.

The study will be conducted in Sarawak next month before being expanded to other states.

Sarawak has already started giving third doses and booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible recipients.

And if you’re one of those eligible to get the additional dose or booster shot, make full use of the opportunity because it's for your own good and safety.
