Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented by the government, it’s compulsory for schools to close in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Parents have to make-do and make sure that their children do all their online assessments and attend virtual classrooms so that they don’t miss out!

But in reality, the absence of the internet at home is a problem for some students. While it may seem that everyone has internet access, there are families struggling to even put food on the table.
The Learn From Home initiative was launched to provide free data to as many parents and children who were restricted at home for education, due to the overwhelming rush of applications of those that needed data at home.
To help these families go through this difficult time, they will be receiving FREE smartphones and 120GB data and calls.
In the midst of all this, a single mother of a fishing village in Labuan had sent in a photograph with her application, of her family of three small children, a boy and two girls holding their father’s death certificate.
She was unsure if her children were entitled to the free SIM cards since her husband had passed away. Like many others in her village, she had recently lost her job due to the Movement Control Order.

They are one of the many Malaysian families who continue to go unseen and unheard as they struggle to make ends meet and are hardest hit during this crisis.
