Kanye West has sent the internet into a frenzy yet again, after tweeting that he WILL be running for President of the United States!
The rapper hasn’t followed up on his claim, so it’s unclear if he’s actually going to run.
The 2020 US Presidential race is well underway and it’s already a straight fight between President Donald Trump and former Vice-President Joe Biden.
So if Kanye does stay true to his word, he could run only in 2024.
At this point, it’s hard to tell if Yeezy is just causing a stir, but the thing is, this isn’t the first time the rapper claimed he’s running for office.
In 2015, West claimed he’ll be running for President in 2020, but last November he pushed the date back, saying he would actually run in the 2024 contest.
West doesn’t seem to have registered his name with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for November's election, so if anything, contesting the nomination under a major political party would be impossible at this stage, with the election only four months away.
But with Kanye being Kanye, we wouldn’t be surprised if he attempts to rise to the top solo!
