Police arrested a man wearing a pink wristband in Rawang, Selangor on Saturday (October 3rd), for allegedly breaching the mandatory COVID-19 two-week quarantine period.
It’s understood that the 52-year-old suspect was detained in front of a restaurant, after police received a tip-off from the public.
“Upon checking, it was found that the man had been ordered to undergo home quarantine until October 16th, after a COVID-19 screening at KLIA 2 and while awaiting his test results,” said Gombak district police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe.
He also urged anyone required to go under quarantine to abide by the rules put in place, so as to ensure the safety of their families and others.
The man was remanded today (October 5th), and will be investigated under the Penal Code for committing a negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life.
Photos of police conducting checks on the man in front of the restaurant earlier went viral on social media.
