Imagine being awarded a full scholarship from the prestigious Oxford University… what a proud moment!

Sabah-based doctor, Dr. Giri Shan Rajahram, who specialises in infectious diseases, recently received the Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme - which is a highly competitive scholarship!
The scholarship is only awarded to outstanding graduate students from developing and emerging economies, aimed at funding their studies in Oxford, so one day they may serve their home countries.
Dr. Giri was successfully granted a place to study International Health and Tropical Medicine at the university, and is determined to further his studies in the area as he believes that emerging infectious diseases will continue to be a threat in the future.
Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah congratulated him on Facebook: “Kudos and congratulations to Dr. Giri S Rajahram, the infectious specialist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Dr. Timothy William, both being recognised and awarded the prestigious 2019 Endeavour Leadership Program, given by the Australian government.”

Dr. Giri was also recognised by his clinical work and research in infectious disease especially in the field of malaria.
