14-Day Quarantine Period Shortened To 10 Days For Travellers

14-day quarantine period shortened to 10 days for travellers

Starting today (December 14th), the 14-day quarantine period for overseas travellers entering Malaysia will be decreased to 10 days.

The Health Ministry (MOH) says the decision was based on the latest scientific evidence and practices in other countries.

This also applies to those undergoing quarantine at quarantine centres or home, including close contacts.

Other countries that had also shortened the quarantine period from 14 to 10 days are the UK, Germany, and Belgium, while France implements a seven-day quarantine.

Earlier, the Health Ministry said the recent review of clinical scientific evidence found that the risk of post-quarantine infection will decrease throughout quarantine time, with its highest peak in the first week after exposure.

Stay safe, people!
