You’ve probably realized by now that there has been a bit of a boba craze recently. It’s not an entirely new phenomenon as we were first introduced to the bubble tea fanfare around 2012through the likes of Chatime, Gong Cha, and Ochado (what a major throwback).

Malaysians are braving long queues, once again, and flocking to bubble tea chains such as The Alley, Xing Fu Tang and Tiger Sugar to satisfy their sweet cravings. This wave of boba revival, however, focuses more on Taiwan-based brands and their cult favourite: fresh, warm brown sugar pearls set in ice cold milk.

Most recently, Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart has joined in the game by introducing their take on the trend with the Brown Sugar Bubble Milk, featuring brown sugar bubbles imported from Taiwan and 100% fresh creamy milk.
At a time where paying RM15 for a cuppa seems to be the norm, FamilyMart introduces their creation at a refreshing price of RM6.90. What’s more, for a limited time only (until June 25th), Facebook fans of FamilyMart Malaysia get to enjoy a RM2 discount, touting it as the “best deal in town”!
So, will you be trying FamilyMart’s Brown Sugar Bubble Milk or will you be sticking to your favourites?
