A local car is making waves on an island nation. We’re no strangers to the Perodua Bezza, but would you have expected it to be so popular in Sri Lanka?
Ever since it was launched in June 2017, the Perodua Bezza has been a favourite among Sri Lankan buyers, with over 1,500 buyers to date, making it the best-selling sub-1.0 litre sedan on the island.
Along with the Axia, the Bezza is one of the fastest-selling models Perodua has sold there. Being Perodua’s biggest overseas market, there’s been more than 15, 600 Perodua vehicles sold by local distributor Unimo Enterprises since 1997.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said they work closely with Unimo to ensure the staff are equipped with good product knowledge and technical training. This means that buyers can rest assured that they will receive quality service and advice despite not being in the local service centre.
The model that is available in Sri Lanka is fitted with an aluminium-block 998 cc VVT-i engine and a four-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission, with a rated fuel efficiency of above 21 km/l.
The Sri Lankan market is used to being dominated by hatchbacks so the compact size and practicality of the Bezza makes for a nice change on the island. Driving around in a comfortably sized, ergonomical sedan with your family sure sounds like a dream come true!
* Sri Lankan Rupee to Malaysian Ringgit conversion correct at time of this release. The Malaysian Ringgit equivalent of the Bezza’s Sri Lankan price at launch in June 2017 was then RM103,162.
