Now We Can Visit The Zoo! Virtually!

Since the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was implemented, many businesses are starting to reopen again, and some are preparing to welcome back the public once the restrictions are lifted.

Zoo Taiping and Night Safari has embarked on a virtual tour programme to get visitors ready to return to the zoo once the CMCO is lifted.

If you miss spending time at the zoo with your family or your friends, this is the time you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home.

This programme with its tagline, “Online Now, Onsite Later” has released its first video on 23 May which featured Zoo Taiping’s most adorable member, the orangutan!

According to Malay Mail, Zoo Director Dr. Kevin Lazarus said they hope to release at least two videos weekly until the CMCO is lifted, “We want to maintain the people’s interest with the zoo.”

He added that the series of videos would showcase the zoo’s endangered species of animals.

Since the enforcement of the MCO, Taiping Zoo had suffered a loss of RM400,000 monthly, “Of the amount, food for the animals amounted the most at RM170,000” he added.

If you’re wondering whether it is safe to visit the zoo while the virus is still among us, Dr. Kevin assured that the zoo will follow all guidelines set by the Health Minister, “There will be a limit of 500 people per hour. We will also take the visitors body temperature and their contact details.”

So, before you go to the zoo, make sure to take all the necessary precautions! Keep yourself safe, but at the same time, help these animals who are also affected by the MCO.
