The end of the year is approaching, and with it comes celebrations. But where do you usually celebrate the new year?
Agoda.com recently found that Tokyo, Paris and Las Vegas are the top destinations in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America for those celebrating New Year’s Eve.
In the Asia Pacific region, Tokyo took the spot as the most popular destination to welcome in the New Year, while Taipei took second place and Bangkok followed behind at third.
Those who love happening festivities will be pleased to know that Thailand is home to the most destinations for NYE celebrations in the region, with Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya featured on the list.
Paris and London, both beautiful cities which have long been a favourite among travellers even during normal seasons, are still the two most popular destinations while romantic Rome took the third spot in Europe. Stunning fireworks displays, bustling nightlife and free New Year’s Eve shows propelled Milan into the seventh spot. Now it sounds like a place we want to go!
Party city Las Vegas, in the meantime, has taken over as the top New Year’s Eve destination in North America. Meanwhile, the City of Angels, Los Angeles retained its spot as the third most popular destination to ring in the New Year and for the first time, Hawaii’s Honolulu made its way onto the list, with its beaches, lively parties and rich culture securing the beautiful capital’s spot as the fourth most popular destination!
Japan, Thailand and Malaysia remained as the favourite Asian countries to visit for travelers, while France took first place among European countries, with the United Kingdom and Italy following behind.
This year, it appears that Malaysians will be flocking to Kuala Lumpur to ring in the New Year, with the capital city being the favoured choice for the fourth consecutive year! Also on the list are places like Kuching, Penang, Langkawi, Genting, Kota Kinabalu, and Malacca. For those with plans to travel, Taipei was the second most popular destination among Malaysians, along with Bangkok and Tokyo.
