Global fast-food giant, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has decided to stop using its iconic slogan, ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

KFC said that they decided to drop the slogan just a few months after health officials advised everyone to stop touching their faces to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus and that the 64-year-old slogan “doesn’t feel quite right”.
Catherine Tan-Gillespie, KFC Global Chief Marketing Officer said: “We find ourselves in a unique situation - having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment.”

She then added that KFC’s menu isn’t changing and the company said that the slogan will return soon… when the time is right, as reported by CNN.
The company had also altered its packaging where they revealed their new look in a Youtube video, with the phrase now obscured on posters and its food “buckets”, saying: “That thing we always say? Ignore it. For now.”
Many commented on social media that their slogan was not a health hazard as you were already eating with your hands.
But, according to KFC, the finger lickin’ message has caused concern since the pandemic began.
