Do You Feel Like The Left Side Of Your Body Is Weaker Than Your Right When Working Out? Here’s Why!

We are sure you must have felt many times that the left side of your body is weaker than the right side. Interestingly, lefty feel the same for their right side of the body.

But don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with you because it is perfectly normal.

It is actually very common that people have strength differences between both the body sides. And it is more uncommon for the body to be symmetrical in size and strength on both sides than it is for them to be different.

Wait… no way?!

According to Times of India, experts say that while most gym exercises work on both the body sides in the same way, we consciously use our dominant side far more than our weak side. This includes opening doors, rolling over on the bed, carrying groceries, as well as the side you choose to take the first step on stairs.

And as you know, the more repeatedly we use one side, the more efficiently our brain learns to use those muscles, which results in stronger muscles on that side and quite often larger muscles as well.

Usually, people go about their lives without even noticing this difference but it’s the people who exercise regularly figure out the difference pretty fast.

How to improve the weak side of our body?

The best and easiest way is to choose an exercise that loads each side of your body separately like dumbbell exercises, shoulder press, chest press, lunges, bicep curls, tricep extensions and dumbbell squats.

However, do remember that doing more reps on the weaker side won’t make both sides even! So don’t even try…

Just work the weak side as much as your stronger side, or you can even try doing your daily activities like lifting groceries and pushing and pulling the door using your weak side.

Hope this explains it!
