Craving For Sugar? Here Are Some Ways To Tame Your Sweet Tooth!

A cookie or two won’t hurt us, right? Well… the answer is actually more complicated than that!

You can have sugar in moderation, however, if you have a sweet tooth, once you get a taste of sugar, your brain will tell you to eat more.

Sugar is addictive and it can be hard to judge when enough is enough and if we eat more sugar than our bodies can process, it becomes stored fat. This can lead to further health complications.

Well, if you are constantly craving for sugar, here are some ways that might help you curb your cravings, according to YogaFit:

#1 Find a substitute

Eat fruits! Fruits have natural sugars in them that help to fight the urge for sweets. Also, fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals and fibers, which keep you feeling full and satisfied.

#2 Stay hydrated

Sugar cravings are a sign of hydration! Before you take a bite into that yummy-looking candy bar, try drinking eight ounces of water first and then wait a few minutes. You will probably find that you no longer are in need of sweets.

Not a fan of water? Try drinking tea, which is also a great alternative to reduce sugar cravings.

#3 Eat more whole foods

The less processed food in your diet, the less added sugar you’ll get. Aim to get plenty of green vegetables, lean meats, and healthy fats in your diet to combat sugar cravings and satisfy your hunger.

#4 Don’t skip meals

Eating regularly will prevent your blood sugar from dropping too low, which can make you crave sugar.

Plan your meals out ahead of time, to avoid accidentally missing one and to ensure you have healthy and wholesome meals ready to go.

#5 Wait it out

Sugar cravings are temporary, not permanent. If you wait 10 minutes, your cravings will pass. To have the willpower to wait out a craving, you will also improve yourself mentally and physically in the long run.

But most importantly, please go easy on yourself!
