The coronavirus pandemic has sadly left many employees without a heading in life, as a great number of jobs are either being digitised or displaced.
How have Malaysians been affected?
Renowned HR services industry player Randstad Malaysia recently released the results of the “COVID-19 Labour Pulse” Study, which revealed that 58% of respondents are actively looking for a new job in the next 12 months.
The study was conducted to determine the local workforce’s views about the employment market this year, and also the challenges job-seekers have faced thus far.
Of the 58% of respondents who are looking for a new job, 24% said that they are looking to change their career or industry that they work in; 13% said that their skills and experience no longer meet their current job requirements, and 15% mentioned that they have been retrenched.
Meanwhile, others cited reasons related to salary - 26% of respondents reported to have taken a pay cut or a pay freeze either indefinitely or for a temporary period, and 24% mentioned dissatisfaction with their current salary.
