This compassionate man stepped forward to care for a group of puppies and a dog after their owners recently passed away. What sets this story apart is a minor detail that speaks volumes – the man is a devout Muslim. "They're just like my children," he affirms, with the conviction that only someone who truly understands the connection between humans and animals can possess.
This act of care and kindness didn't come without its challenges. In a society where certain beliefs might clash with the idea of keeping dogs, this man took a stand: "Deep down in my heart, I know dogs' lives are precious too, and I just can't ignore them."
Leslie Lau, the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) branch youth secretary councillor, offered an alternative solution – for someone else to look after the dogs. The man, however, declined gracefully. He's devoted to these animals, caring for them with the same love and attention he'd bestow upon his own children.
"I'll take care of them until they are old, unless I'm unable to do so," he asserts, a testament to his unwavering commitment.
Yet, it's not just dogs that find refuge under his caring wings; cats too receive his "special care." Although once responsible for 60 cats, financial constraints have led the number to decrease to 30. But his dedication to these animals remains unshaken.
One of the dogs under his care, Bibi, has been by his side for years. The bond they share runs deep. "I was there when Bibi was young, underneath an abandoned car and in labor. It broke my heart," he shares, a testament to the tender moments that weave their lives together.
