Korean content creator, Tara Choi, who is from Busan, South Korea recently went viral after she took her parents to go makan-makan at a pasar malam (night market) at Jalan TAR.

They tried a lot of local Malaysian dishes at the pasar malam including kuih peneram, pisang goreng with cheese, and cendol! They were also seen tapao-ing some food to eat at home.

What surprised Tara’s family was the price of our food. Her father was shocked to find out that a stick of satay costs only 2000 won, which is around RM0.68 compared to the meat or chicken skewers sold as street food in South Korea which would cost them around 1000-2000 won, or RM6.80.

Tara also said that her parents were very excited and they had fun. She was happy that she even got to teach her parents some simple Bahasa Melayu.

Malaysians took to the comment section to praise Tara’s parents for trying to speak the local language and for being open to trying new food, “Isn’t it exciting when you travel, everything is a new experience!”

“Your parents are adorable! They look so excited to explore the pasar malam!”

The video has since garnered over 1.5 million views at the time of writing.

Netizens also asked Tara for more video of her parents exploring the city and trying new foods.

This is the cutest thing we’ve ever seen! We’re glad that Tara’s parents are enjoying KL and loving our food!
