In the latest episode that premiered on December 22nd, Mei Mei, a skilled character in the series, along with her brother Ui Ui, found themselves in Kuala Lumpur after narrowly escaping a confrontation with an adversary concealed within Geto Suguru's body.

The intense battle between Mei Mei and the hidden enemy took place offscreen, occurring after the events portrayed in episode 38. Viewers were reintroduced to Mei Mei in the recent episode, where she utilised her brother's abilities to travel to Kuala Lumpur in search of refuge.

The episode beautifully captures the iconic skyline of the Petronas Twin Towers before unveiling Mei Mei and Ui Ui taking respite in an upscale hotel room in the capital city. Interestingly, in the manga, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building was featured instead of the twin towers.

This inclusion of Kuala Lumpur follows a reference to Kuantan four episodes prior in the anime. In that particular episode, which aired a month ago, Kento Nanami, a mentor-like figure to the series' protagonist, Yuji Itadori, expressed his wish to visit Malaysia, particularly a beach in Kuantan, before his impending demise…

Jujutsu Kaisen, authored by Akutami and brought to life by MAPPA Studio, narrates the story of high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a clandestine organisation of Jujutsu Sorcerers to eradicate monsters in the world, including a formidable 'curse' named Ryomen Sukuna.

While the series is primarily set in Tokyo, Japan, Malaysia seems to hold a special place as Akutami's second-favourite location to feature in the narrative…
