The US-based Malaysian singer intended to make a quick trip home in March but ended up staying in Malaysia for more than eight months.

The singer told Harian Metro, “My husband (director Adam Sinclair) and I came back here to fulfill some work obligations in March, and then the Movement Control Order (MCO) came into effect.”

“I am okay with it because at least I get to spend time with family here. I’ll go back to Los Angeles once the situation there improves. Right now, the COVID-19 cases there are rising,” she added.

Though the pandemic has affected her work, she was still able to record a few songs at home, and even released a single, ‘Stay Where You Are’, in May.

“I have meetings with my producers in the US via conference calls. There have been some challenges but it won’t be any easier even if I was in the US. Compared to the situation there, we’re more stable here,” she said.

Yuna, whose initial exposure came through the viral success of her music uploaded on MySpace, has been living in the US since 2011 when she decided to pursue an international career.

We hope that she is staying safe!
