Even with the progress of technology, your good ol’ TV is still the way to go in the name of entertainment.

Comedy is always a great stress reliever, with laughter being a sure fire way to lighten the mood. Silicon Valley, which first premiered on HBO in 2014, tells the tale of introverted computer programmer Richard and his fellow nerdy friends as they try to make it big in a high-tech gold rush. When Richard manages to come up with a powerful search algorithm, he gets caught in a bidding war between his boss and a venture capitalist.
Silicon Valley has managed to tell the story of awkward techies with precision, cleverly throwing a good dose of entertainment into the show to keep loyalists coming back.

The final season of Silicon Valley, which aired on 27th October, is taking a turn - with an overall bleaker storyline about the entire tech industry. It explores all the real questions we are facing - how we are monitored almost every second and how our privacy and data is exploited for profit. Definitely something to check out if you are interested in finding out the consequences and reality of the interweb.

Fictional stories are also another great time-filler. Created by Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, Watchmen is a TV series based on the DC Comics limited series of the same name. Created by Damon Lindelof for HBO, he called the television series a “remix” of the limited series. The first season, which aired on 20th October, takes place in an alternate America. We see a divided society in fierce battle, as the story bounces back and forth between the past and the present. America’s dark history is cleverly navigated in this series as we are taken along for the ride in nail biting awe.
Available on Astro GO, these two shows make for a great addition to your list of series - so what are you waiting for? More new shows will be out by the time you have made it to the end of this article!
