#KPopTwitter Rises To The Top With 6.1 Billion Tweets Globally In 2019

K-Pop fans continue to dominate and made a global impact after ruling the Twitterverse over the past year.

According to Twitter, #KpopTwitter took the top spot with 6.1 billion related tweets in 2019, a 15% increase from 2018.

They also revealed the top 10 countries that tweeted the most about K-pop last year – Thailand taking the No. 1 spot, followed by South Korea, Indonesia, the United States of America (USA) and the Philippines.

Brazil took the sixth place while Malaysia is at seventh, followed by the rest in order of Japan, Mexico and Argentina.

Fans of the international K-pop sensation BTS, also known by their fanbase name – Army, once again demonstrated their power on the platform.

It was reported that they had driven BTS member Jungkook’s video tweet of him dancing to American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy track to become the most retweeted tweet worldwide, which also means that BTS’ official account (@bts_twt) holds the worldwide “Golden Tweet” as the most retweeted tweet known for 2019.

It’s no surprise then that the super successful seven-member Korean music group also had the most discussed K-pop account globally for the past year.

BTS’ No. 1 spot was followed by the official Twitter accounts for EXO (weareoneEXO), GOT7 (GOT7Official), Monsta X (OfficialMonstaX) and BlackPink.

The sixth to tenth places were taken by Seventeen (pledis_17), Baekhyun of EXO (B_hundred_Hyun), NCT 127 (NCTsmtown), TXT and BamBam of GOT7 (BamBam1A), respectively.

BlackPink (ygofficialblink) meanwhile took the top spot for having the fastest growing K-pop account worldwide in 2019. 

This category took into account the new K-pop groups joining Twitter in 2019, as well as others that had a surge of tweets in comparison to the year before.

Followed by the groups from second place to fifth place are SuperM (superm), TXT (TXT_bighit), Stray Kids Stray_Kids and WayV (WayV_official). ATEEZ (ATEEZofficial), X1 (x1official101), ITZY (ITZYofficial), AB6IX (AB6IX) and (G)i-dle (G_I_DLE), took the sixth spot to tenth spot respectively.
