We're all familiar with the Avengers and the Justice League.
Now, we have an Indonesian superhero film showing in Malaysia!
Gundala is an Indonesian film based on the comic character of the same name created by Harya “Hasmi” Sumarinata. The character is pretty old - it came into conception in 1969, and this movie will be the first installment in the BumiLangit Cinematic Universe!

According to the film director, Joko Anwar, the show will be screening in Malaysia theatres on 26 December.
Gundala showed in Indonesian theatres on 29 August this year, and the movie took home a number of awards! These included the Indonesian Film Festival's (FFI) Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Original Score awards. The film also premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film in Toronto, Canada on 5-15 September this year.
The film tells the tale of Sancaka, who works as a security guard at a printing press. Sancaka gets struck by lightning and uses a special helmet to distribute the power through his body. He later adopts the name Gundala and fights for truth and justice (as all good heroes do!)
Gundala will also be showing in Singapore and Brunei Darussalam following its screening in Malaysia.
How excited are you for this movie?
