Fresh off the set of her new drama series, Lelaki Lingkungan Cinta, Cik B has once again proved she’s a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.
The 15-year-old daughter of local cosmetics tycoon, Datuk Seri Vida, released her debut single “Tolonglah” last night (December 1st), along with its music video!
Cik B, whose real name is Nur Edlynn Zamileen, revealed that the song was actually recorded in December last year, and while the music video was completed earlier this year, she did not have the courage to go public with it at the time.
“This single is very special for me because it tells the story of my life and my siblings since childhood, and how we were abused by a nanny, faced with family problems and lacked self-confidence.”
“Outsiders may see me as lucky to have grown up as the daughter of a rich man, but they do not know the real story that we all went through. That is what I am trying to convey through this song and music video,” she said.
Cik B added that it was only after a year of self-reflection that she finally felt ready to receive criticism for her bold single.
“Before this, I had problems with self-confidence and shame in dealing with people, unlike mama (Datuk Seri Vida). But now I want to look different, not like how I used to be introverted and did not like to hang out with people. I am now ready to accept public criticism of this song and ready to do any live performance," she said.
The music video for “Tolonglah” was directed by none other than Datuk Seri Vida herself, and it was shot at her house, as well as her warehouse.
Since its launch at 9pm last night, the music video has garnered over 190,000 views, surpassing Siti Nurhaliza's latest music video “Kuasa Cintamu”, which was released at the same time yesterday, at almost 180,000 views.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Vida also expressed her pride and excitement, saying she fully supports her daughter's interest and efforts, and at the same time is happy to see the change in Cik B's image and attitude, which is no longer clumsy in front of the public.
“I have heard Cik B sing her song for a long time but she often refuses to listen to others. After a long persuasion, she finally dared to do so. I have high hopes that she can go far in this field, and even be accepted by many at the international level,” she said.
And we have to say, we’re loving the song!
