"I Won’t Call the Police!" Man Tells Women Caught Stealing Parcels in JB to Reseal Packages and Return Them

Since the MCO was introduced five years ago, more Malaysians have turned to online shopping. Buying groceries and household items online has become the norm, and it’s now common for courier services to leave parcels at your door if you’re not home.

Before the MCO, this wasn’t the case. If you missed a delivery, the courier would leave a slip and ask you to collect your parcel at the post office.

But now, with parcels left outside homes more often, some people have taken advantage of the situation.

A recent incident in a housing area near Bandar Seri Alam, Johor Bahru, shows exactly that. A man caught two women opening stolen parcels and recorded the confrontation on video. He asked them directly: “Who took all these parcels? I know it was both of you. Why are you opening people’s parcels? This is stealing.”

The women tried to blame each other and made excuses, even pointing at parcels and claiming they belonged to them—despite the addresses being completely different.

The man made them reseal the packages and return them to where they were taken from. He also said he wouldn’t call the police.

In the comments section, someone who recognised one of the women said: “The girl in the scout uniform is differently-abled. She’s my in-law’s neighbour’s daughter. We often see her walking around talking to herself. It’s good that the man decided to show them mercy.”

Most Malaysians are honest, but this reminds us that it’s still important to keep an eye on your parcels, and your neighbours'.
