We understand the struggle, the Malaysian sun can be unforgiving, glaring straight into our eyes while we drive.

Recently, a rather baffling scene unfolded in Cyberjaya, capturing the attention (and concern) of Malaysians online. TikTok user @vickyyongq posted a short clip showing a woman who, in a bold but questionable move, decided to hang an entire curtain across the front windscreen of her car — yes, the driver’s side!
Rather than pulling it aside once she hit the road, the woman simply leaned and peeked out from the edge of the fabric to navigate her way out of a double-parked spot. In the brief six-second video, viewers watched in disbelief as she manoeuvred her vehicle with barely any visibility ahead of her.
Understandably, @vickyyongq was left puzzled and concerned, commenting, “Sorry, I don't understand. This is dangerous! How can you drive with a black cloth covering your view? Kakak, please get proper window tints or wear sunglasses lah.”
As the video made its rounds, netizens echoed the alarm. Many expressed astonishment, noting that in all their years, they had never seen anyone resort to installing a literal curtain on the windscreen to shield themselves from the sun.
While we can all sympathise with the daily battle against Malaysia’s intense heat, blocking your entire view with a curtain is never the solution.
This method is extremely dangerous and could lead to serious accidents. If you’re struggling with the blinding sun while driving, consider safer alternatives like installing JPJ-approved tinted windows, using the sun visors that come with your car, or investing in good-quality sunglasses. Most importantly, never compromise your visibility on the road.
Drive safely, everyone!
