Viral Run-Down Kancil Owner Detained By Police For Being On The Road

Over the weekend, a video of a “Kancil Buruk” went viral on TikTok showing the car on the road with no roof and damaged front tires.

The Perodua Kancil driver was then detained by the Kuala Lumpur Department of Investigation and Traffic Enforcement for inspection on Sunday (April 25th).

According to FMT, police acted after netizens started viralling a video clip of the run-down Kancil, which attracted a lot of attention online because of the unbelievable state of the car.

The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Zulkefly Yahya said that the 47-year-old driver was arrested for not having a driver’s license and endangering others on the road.

Further inspection found that the driver had not applied for a road tax and that the driver also owned a green Kancil with a broken left rear view mirror but without a registered number plate.

“Both cars are unfit to be on the road and are a danger to other road users,” he said.

The Kancil was previously spotted along the streets of Kepong and made its round on social media due to its poor condition.

The vehicle has been confiscated under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further investigations.
