Vendor’s Heartwarming Gesture of Charging Differently for Drinks Melts Netizens’ Hearts!

Kindness is one of the values that Malaysians hold dear, and it often shines through in everyday interactions. A recent story shared on Facebook highlighted this generosity in a touching incident at a local street market near an office area.

The market, which had a mix of vendors offering food and drinks from different ethnic groups, was a vibrant hub resembling a mini night market. One of the vendors ran a stall specialising in Malay dishes, traditional cakes, fried snacks, and colourful drinks. The stall regularly attracted a mix of office workers and passers-by.

The woman, Millie, said she had visited the street market during her lunch break. Her usual choice, a braised pork rice stall, was closed, so she decided to try something new and stopped by the Malay vendor’s stall. While browsing for snacks, she noticed another customer ordering a blue drink with jelly bits, priced at RM3.

Shortly after, two garbage collectors approached the same stall and placed an order for the same drink. Millie observed as the vendor told them the price was RM1 instead of RM3. Confused, the two workers double-checked with the vendor, confirming the lower price. Once reassured, they happily purchased two additional cups before leaving, clearly delighted by the gesture.

Millie, who witnessed the entire interaction, was struck by the vendor’s quiet act of generosity. The decision to offer a lower price to the garbage collectors, possibly to ease their financial burden, was a small but meaningful way to show kindness and appreciation for their hard work.
