Acts of kindness often come unannounced, much like the recent story shared by Malaysian truck driver @kaartik_rk on TikTok. His simple yet touching encounter with a stranger has warmed the hearts of many online.

While on the road, Kaartik met a man who asked for RM5, mentioning his desire to have a meal at a mamak restaurant. Rather than handing over the cash, Kaartik decided to accompany the man to ensure he got a proper meal. "I asked him to head into the restaurant and order whatever he liked. I assured him I’d cover the cost," he explained in his video.

Kaartik shared his reasoning behind this approach, stating, "If it's for food, I’m always ready to help. It’s not that I don’t trust people, but I prefer to make sure the money goes directly towards a meal rather than being misused."

After the man placed his order, the total bill came to RM17—far beyond the RM5 he had initially requested. Reflecting on this, Kaartik mused, "Had I just given him the RM5, I wonder what he would have settled for. I’m glad he got a satisfying meal."

His thoughtful deed serves as a gentle reminder that compassion doesn’t require grand gestures. Sometimes, all it takes is the willingness to ensure someone doesn’t go hungry.
