Sometimes, kindness catches you by surprise, especially at a traffic light.
While on duty behind the wheel of an ambulance, a driver known as Mat Yoe noticed something unusual. A motorcyclist beside him was intently counting RM5 notes. What seemed like an ordinary moment soon turned into an unforgettable one.

As the light turned green, they parted ways. But at the next red light, the motorcyclist pulled up beside the ambulance again, this time tapping on the driver’s window.
Curious, Mat Yoe rolled it down. To his surprise, the man handed him RM20 in small bills. "For petrol," he said. "For the ambulance."
Deeply moved, Mat Yoe accepted the unexpected donation. The generous stranger, it turns out, worked at a nearby petrol station. Later, after completing his patient run, Mat Yoe made a detour to the station, hoping to find and thank him properly.
His hunch paid off. The man’s name was Shahrul, a humble worker who had quietly followed Mat Yoe’s free ambulance efforts on Facebook and decided it was time to lend a helping hand.
Grateful for the kind gesture, Mat Yoe messaged Shahrul to express his appreciation and promised him a meal as thanks. "He’s truly a special soul," he wrote. "Without people like him, our work wouldn’t be possible."
Tadi masa bawak ambulan, aku perasan ada lelaki di sebelah kiri ambulan sedang kira duit not RM5.Masa tu di hentian...

A simple act. A meaningful difference. Shahrul’s RM20 may not seem like much, but to the team behind a free ambulance service, it is a reminder that compassion still drives the world forward.
