The International Federation of Association Football, or famously known as FIFA recently took notice of Malaysian fans who were seen in a video supporting the winning home team following the return leg semifinal match in Bangkok, Thailand.
FIFA highlighted in a tweet saying: "The beautiful game.
“The Malaysia fans show their respect for the Thailand players after losing to them in the AFF Cup.”
The tweet included a video clip showing a section of the stadium where the Malaysian fans are seated and were seen waving their hands in the air chanting: “Sawadee ka, sawadee ka Thailand!”
The camera then pans away from the fans to the side of the field where Thai players were seen cheering excitedly with wide smiles on their faces.
The video has since garnered over 934,700 thousand views at the time of writing. Netizens took to the comment section to congratulate Thailand on their win: “It was a good game. Congratulations, Thailand.”
Last Tuesday (10 January) Thailand defeated Malaysia 3-0 in the second leg of the semi-final match at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Despite being outnumbered by the locals, Malaysian supporters were loud and enthusiastic in the 25,000-seat stadium, making their presence felt!
That’s what we call good sportsmanship! Well done, Malaysians and congratulations, Thailand!
