No, we're not joking, this actually happened. A driver caught committing a traffic violation by the local police tried to use a literal ‘trump card’ to get out of trouble.

After being pulled over, the motorist presented the officer with a Monopoly ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card.
The incident occurred in California, and was shared by the Fullerton Police Department on its official Instagram page.
The post explained, “You never know what’s going to happen on a traffic stop. One of our officers recently pulled over a driver for a traffic violation.”
“In a last-ditch effort to get out of a citation, the driver handed over a Monopoly ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card.”
As you might expect, the driver’s cheeky attempt to avoid legal action did not work.
The Fullerton Police Department said the officer had a good laugh at the attempt but reminded the driver that while creativity is appreciated, the ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card is not a legal defence.
The driver was jokingly told to save the card for a rainy day before leaving with a smile and a real summons from the police.
