At just 20 years old, Alicia Wong Lingling from Klang has achieved what many only dream of. She has officially made her debut in the K-pop world as a member of the girl group KIIRAS, making her the first Malaysian female to do so.
KIIRAS made a splash with their debut single Kill Ma Bo$$, accompanied by a colourful country-inspired music video. The group’s first release has already attracted over a million views online, showing strong support from fans both in Korea and abroad.
Alicia takes on two major roles in the group as the leader and lead vocalist. She performs alongside five other members: Harin, Kurumi, Kylie, Doyeon and Roah.
Before her debut, Alicia was introduced to K-pop fans through the South Korean survival show I-LAND 2: N/A. Although she was eliminated midway through the show, she left a strong impression as the only Southeast Asian contestant. Her charisma and work ethic stood out, and she quickly gained attention for her motto: “I will work hard to become the first female idol from Malaysia.”
Her dream didn’t end with the show. Korean agency LeanBranding saw her potential and signed her to be part of their new girl group, which eventually became KIIRAS.
Alicia is fluent in Korean, English, Chinese and Bahasa Melayu, which allows her to connect with fans from many different countries. Her journey from a hopeful trainee to an official K-pop idol marks an exciting moment for Malaysia’s presence in the global music scene.
Congratulations, Alicia! Malaysia is cheering you on, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you next.
