Actress and entrepreneur, Neelofa, has been issued a RM20,000 compound for violating COVID-19 SOPs during her recent wedding ceremony.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that Neelofa was issued the compound for failing to practice physical distancing.

In a statement, he said: “The compound is also for breaching interstate travel regulations and by taking part in activities that were not permitted by police. No discount will be given for the compound.”

ACP Mohamad Zainal also said that Neelofa’s husband, Muhammad Haris or commonly known as PU Riz was also issued a RM10,000 compound for breaching interstate travel regulations.

No discount will be offered for PU Riz as well.

He also added that 20 of Neelofa and PU Riz’s relatives were issued with a RM1,500 compound each totalling RM30,000 for also failing to practice physical distancing during the wedding.

On April 4th, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that Neelofa and her husband would be called in to give their statements over viral pictures and videos of them spending time in Langkawi, which looked like they were on their honeymoon.

Additionally, viral photos of her wedding ceremony showed that attendees did not follow SOPs and an investigation paper was opened on the alleged breach.

Family members of the couple who attended the wedding also aided in the investigation.
