Prime Minister Announces Restricted Movement Order In Malaysia To Battle Covid-19

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced today, 16 March 2020, that Malaysia will be on restricted movement basis from 18 March, Wednesday until 31 March 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The Prime Minister stated in a special address, that there will be a general prohibition of mass movements and gatherings across the nation, which includes any religious, sports, social and cultural activities.
All houses of worships and business premises should be closed, except for supermarkets, public markets, grocery and convenience stores that sells the necessities.
Following the plan to help counteract the COVID-19 pandemic, Malaysians will not be allowed to travel abroad while those who have just returned will need to undergo health checks and self-quarantine for 14 days as assurance. Tourists and foreign visitors are also prohibited from entering the country.
The strategy also includes a protection plan for students and education faculties in the country as well.

There will be a mandatory closure for ALL education institutions in the country, including kindergartens, government and private schools, which includes daily schools, boarding schools, tahfiz centres, primary and secondary schools, pre-university institution, public and private higher education institutions as well as skills training institutes.
The other move to help combat this includes the closure of all government and private premises, except essential services including water, electricity, energy, telecommunications, postal, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas, fuel, lubricants, broadcasting, finance, banking, health, pharmacy, fire, prison, port, airport, safety, defence, cleaning, retail and food supply.
