#KitaJagaKita Helps Make Change On Treatment Of PUS At Subang Jaya Quarantine Center

Social media proved its power to make a change over the weekend, after Malaysians came together to use the hashtag #KitaJagaKita, to spread a foreign student’s story on their poor treatment at a quarantine center in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

As a foreign student in a foreign land, I learned a lot and as a government servant myself, I want to treat anyone who comes to Malaysia, the same I was treated in Seoul. Twitter user @zierali from South Korea shared their experience yesterday (August 3rd), leaving netizens shocked and outraged at the center’s services, especially at the most depressing meals provided for the person(s) under surveillance (PUS).

@zierali’s story went viral in just a matter of hours, even catching the attention of Subang Jaya assemblywoman YB Michelle Ng, who made sure the management at the center stepped up on their services.

The tweet has been shared over 3.4K times, with @zierali encouraging people to use the hashtag #KitaJagaKita to share their story.

It’s good to see social media making a difference for the better, and we hope that all quarantine centers maintain standards in their treatment of PUS.

Let’s not take Malaysian hospitality lightly.
