PKNS Corporate Communications Manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abd Rashid said the closure is in line with the movement control order announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which involves the closure of all business premises except supermarkets and convenience stores selling daily necessities, in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.
“Uptown Shah Alam, under the supervision of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), will be temporarily closed. The temporary closure order will be effective from March 18, 2020 to March 31, 2020 and will involve 430 traders at the site.”
“This decision was taken in consideration of the safety of Uptown Shah Alam dealers and visitors to prevent the possibility of COVID-19 spreading further.”
"All traders in Uptown Shah Alam have been notified and dealers can contact PKNS Northern Territory Property Sales Division for more information," he said in a statement today.
Besides Uptown, All business premises at the PKNS Complex and SACC Mall in Section 14 will also be closed during the same period except for banking, retail and convenience stores.
Mahfizul said PKNS had also taken proactive steps previously, in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at PKNS headquarters.
“We have been conducting health screening at the Visitor Lobby and postponing official events involving public gatherings," he said.
Hopefully, with this proactive step coupled with social distancing, the transmission of COVID-19 will decrease in the near future.
