In an effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) today has ordered that The National Science Centre (PSN) and the National Planetarium (PN) to be temporarily closed until further notice.
As a precautionary measure, especially during the school holidays, MOSTI also directed PSN and PN to not receive any mass public visit since early this morning.
“All members of MOSTI including those in PSN and PN are reminded to comply fully with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) control of COVID-19 infection issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH),” the statement said.
PSN, via social media, has also made a similar announcement:
“In a pre-emptive measure to protect visitors, staff, volunteers from the rapidly evolving exposure to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), PSN will temporarily close starting today, 16 March 2020 (Monday) to the public and all public programmes will be suspended. To date, there have not been any reported cases of infection or exposure at PSN. Our utmost priority is to minimize the chances that infectious diseases could spread among the visitors, staff, and volunteers at PSN and in the community”
In the meantime, MOSTI also reminded the public to practice good personal hygiene at all times, and to contact the nearest District Health Office or Crisis Preparation and Response Center (CPRC) National if you experienced any symptoms of infection
