Sci-fi genre lovers know how common it is to see a scanning eyewear or helmet from the future or advanced technology and it looks like “the future” is here in Malaysia!

The KTM Berhad (KTMB) auxiliary police went viral after photos of them using heat scanning helmets while patrolling at the train station and on board the train as a new safety measure in the fight against COVID-19, while looking like “robocop”!

“KTMB Auxiliary Police used temperature-scanning helmets during patrols to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the post wrote and jokingly commented saying, “Put on this "smart helmet" & walk like “RoboCop.”

Many Malaysians are impressed at the new technology used and praised the auxiliary police for their efforts in new technology with some making references to the scouter device in Dragon Ball, and other characters like Judge Dredd, Taskmaster and more!

KTMB said that the latest heat scanning helmet is an addition to the existing safety measures at the train stations like temperature scanner, hand sanitizers and train sanitation to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“With the use of this helmet, members of the Auxiliary Police (PB) who patrol will be able to detect passengers with symptoms through the advanced technology,” the KTMB post wrote.

“Hopefully the methods implemented will be able to increase the confidence of passengers in using KTMB services.”

The helmets are still in the experimental stage to evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of the auxiliary police.

While it’s cool to see advanced and cool-looking technology being used in Malaysia, it’s better if we can all be responsible to prevent COVID-19 from spreading so that we are all safe!
