DG Hisham Says MOH Is Stepping Up Preparedness Following China’s COVID-19 Surge

Dec 30, 2022

Following China's Covid-19 surge, the Ministry of Health increases its preparedness.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will continue to prepare for a possible increase in the number of daily COVID-19 cases and deaths as a result of the outbreak in China.

Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah stated that one of the measures to be implemented is to increase the number of booster doses taken in order to reduce the severity of infections and the risk of death.

"MOH is urging all eligible individuals to receive their COVID-19 booster dose so that the Malaysian population receives optimal protection against COVID-19," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 27).

He added that MOH will also improve the automated Find, Test, Trace, Isolate, and Support (FTTIS) approach to strengthen the country's COVID-19 management through the digitalisation of health management.

Those who perform a COVID-19 self-test can report their results on the MySejahtera app, where positive cases will be given a home surveillance order and a release order digitally.

The rising number of COVID-19 cases in China was reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 21 December.

The ministry would also ensure that all COVID-19 Assessment Centers (CAC) are prepared to receive a high number of patients.

Uh oh, the number of daily COVID-19 cases in China is actually very worrying…

Please stay safe, everyone, and if you’re feeling unwell or if you’re experiencing any COVID-like symptoms, please take a COVID-19 self test as soon as you can!
