Apr 15, 2022

Asymptomatic COVID-19 close contacts will no longer be required to undergo mandatory home quarantine, regardless of vaccination status, says the Health Ministry (MOH).

Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the new rule will take effect on April 22nd.

Only those who had received booster doses were previously excluded from home surveillance orders (HSO).

"Asymptomatic close contact individuals would still be required to wear face masks when outside, avoid crowded places, avoid visiting high-risk groups, and only travel when absolutely necessary," he said on Thursday (April 14th).

Symptomatic close contacts, on the other hand, are advised to self-isolate and encouraged to perform a self Rapid Antigen Test (RTK-Ag) on the first and third day of symptoms, "However, if the condition worsens, the individual must seek medical attention at the nearest health center."

"Positive cases will be handled in accordance with the existing COVID-19 case rules," Khairy explained.

But remember, don’t be complacent and take care of yourself, okay?
