However, vaccine authorities say priority will be given to vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, pregnant women and frontliners.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines have been approved for use as boosters along with the Pfizer vaccines.
This means that those who received Sinovac for their first two doses can opt for the same brand as a booster, in addition to Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Now you must be wondering when you can get your booster dose after your first two shots?
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has shared a recommended summary for COVID-19 booster shot recipients.
The intervals for the booster doses are:
- Pfizer second dose (6 months)
- Moderna and CanSino second dose (6 months)
- Sinopharm second dose (3 months)
- AstraZeneca second dose (6 months)
- Sinovac second dose (3 months)
- Johnson and Johnson single-shot (2 months)
The government rolled out COVID-19 booster doses after it was revealed that protection against infection and hospitalisation decreased over time.
