Sarawak Becomes First State In Malaysia To Achieve Herd Immunity!

Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia to successfully vaccinate over 80% of its adult population as of Monday (August 16th).

According to an update from the Special Committee On COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), 81.5% of the adult population in the state has completed their vaccination, thus increasing the total population vaccination to 59.1%!

Sarawak, along with two other Federal Territories namely Labuan and Kuala Lumpur, have successfully vaccinated more than 80% of its adult population.

This puts Sarawak on the right track in its efforts to achieve herd immunity this month.

Meanwhile, Labuan has vaccinated 89.3% of its adult population at the time of writing, which is equivalent to 61.4% of its total population.

Wahh, good job, Sarawak! We wonder which state will follow suit? Would it be Selangor, Johor or Putrajaya?

As of 18 August 2021:

50.2% of Malaysia’s adult population have been fully vaccinated.

75.3% of Malaysia’s adult population have received at least one dose.
