Before going missing, at around 10:04 pm on Tuesday (3 January), the Chinese national had reportedly refused to stay at a hotel that had been designated by health officials as a temporary foreign quarantine center in Incheon.

The man tested positive for COVID-19 after being subjected to a PCR test at the country's main entry point, Incheon International Airport.

Since Monday (2 January), all visitors from China are required to take a PCR test the day after they arrive in South Korea. Those who test positive for COVID-19 have to spend a week in isolation.
