Football is a well-loved sport all over the world, and it’s one of the things that really bring people together. In line with celebrations for this year’s National Day, Digi Telecommunications introduced Footbraille. Debuting in Digi’s national day video, this prototype enables the visually impaired to experience a football match like never before.
According to Joachin Rajaram, Chief Corporate Affairs Office of Digi, they are always on the lookout for new ways to build meaningful connections through technology. Footbraille comes in the form of a touch table that syncs wirelessly to a device with a custom software. The software inputs the ball’s movements and creates a touch-based response which allows users to “feel” the match. Accompanied by a live match commentary, the experience promises to be a very immersive one.
Football is best enjoyed with friends, and Footbraille users can enjoy this too! Multiple devices can be connected simultaneously so users can experience the euphoria together. The next phase of Footbraille will be put to the test to capture either a live or training football match, and the match will then be transmitted in real-time. Future uses see it being adapted for various other events or purposes.
