Son And Kane Break Records In Tottenham's Latest Win

son and kane break records in tottenham

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane were the stars of the show as Tottenham picked up their first Premiership win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Southampton.

The duo were directly responsible for every one of Spurs' goals.

Son got on the scoresheet four times, with Kane assisting on each occasion before netting one himself.

It was an historic feat by the two strike partners, with multiple records broken.

Here's how they got their names in the history books:

This is Son's first top-flight hattrick - he is only the second Asian player after Shinji Kagawa to score three times in a single Premiership match.

Son's treble also marks only the fourth time a player has scored a top-flight hat-trick with a single teammate assisting each goal.

Not to be outdone, Kane is the first man to assist the same player four times in a single match in the Premier League era.

Kane is the first English player to have ever assisted four goals in a Premier League fixture.

He is also the first player to have been directly involved in five goals, since Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in March 2018.

Just to drive home how lethal the Son-Kane combination is, they've linked up to score a total of 24 goals between them since 2015 - more than any other duo during the same period.

And this is even before the newly re-signed Gareth Bale joins them to form what could potentially be an even more formidable strike force.

Tottenham fans and players will be extremely encouraged by this, especially if the club are to end their title drought this season.
