Selangor Floods Claimed First Death, Man Found Drowned In Shah Alam

The weekend floods in Selangor has claimed its first fatality.

The body of a man in his 30s, believed to be the first drowning victim of the floods in Selangor, was found at the main entrance to the Alam Idaman Apartments in Section 22 on Sunday night (December 19th).

According to BERNAMA, Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Tabi said police received information about the discovery of the body of the victim, a resident of Residensi Hijauan Apartment in Section 22 at about 7:50pm.

The case has been classified as sudden death. 

The central states across peninsular Malaysia have been hit by extremely heavy and persistent rains over the past few days that have caused rivers to overflow their banks and flood several areas. 

Torrential rain caused flooding, displaced over 32,000 people and closed roads in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perak and Kuala Lumpur since last Friday.
