As an influential founding member of ASEAN, Malaysia is set to welcome over 20,000 attendees, including heads of state, diplomats, and senior officials from across the region, making KL the centre of attention for Southeast Asia’s future strategies.

In preparation for the summit, several key highways and roads across the Klang Valley will be closed or rerouted in stages from 23 to 28 May to accommodate official convoys and ensure security throughout the event.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, shared that road closures will follow the movement of foreign delegates to and from their hotels, venues, and official functions.

“Closures and diversions will begin from 7:30am and continue until 8:00pm daily. Roads involved will be temporarily closed 30 minutes prior to convoy movements and reopened once all official vehicles have arrived at their destinations,” he said during a press conference on 19 May.
