2020 will be ending on a high for Malaysians, as our abundant number of public holidays has blessed most of us with three long weekends this December!

And with state borders reopened and interstate travel allowed again, PLUS wants you to make sure you keep alert as you make your long journeys!

“We expect an increase in traffic flow over the next few weekends, starting with the Sultan of Selangor’s birthday this Friday (December 11th), followed by Christmas and the New Year. Over the CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order), we’ve seen about a million road users a day, and this figure is expected to go up by 40 or 50 percent. We urge travellers to stop by our R&Rs, and while they’re at it, support local businesses there,” said Chief Commercial Officer at PLUS, Christine Liew.

Malaysians heading back to their hometowns have been advised to take a break from driving at least every two hours in order to avoid fatigue, which could lead to ‘microsleeps’, and then accidents, of course.

Why is this important? Check out our article on ‘highway hypnosis’.

Christine also highlighted that PLUS is offering special promotions at several rest stops this holiday season, and reminded travellers to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs in place.

Here are your main R&R and stopover options:

  1. Restoran Jejantas Sungai Buloh
  2. Rawang
  3. Tapah

Drive safe and stay safe, people!
