With the current wet spell in Malaysia, Pahang is the worst-affected, after the state was struck with massive flooding. Many areas were hit, including the major highway,the East Coast Expressway (ECE), also known as LPT1 that connects the East and West Coast of the peninsular.

There was a road closure between Karak and Lanchang at KM84.6 and traffic was at a standstill since 7am (4th Jan 2021) . The alternative road on Jalan Bukit Damar towards Mempaga was also affected and as at 2pm, is still not available for access. So, drivers have no choice but to turn back because of the road closure.

Other areas in Pahang that were affected include Jalan Kuantan Pekan, Jalan Pekan Rompin, Jalan Raub Lipis, Jalan Gambang and Jalan Jerantut and Maran.

Johor was also reported to have been badly affected especially in the Kota Tinggi District. Areas affected include Jalan Kota Tinggi Mersing, Jalan Kota Tinggi Kluang, Jalan Tai Hong, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Semangar, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Mawai Lama, Jalan Kampung Kelantan, Jalan Lok Heng (Sungai Semalok) and Jalan Sungai Telor.

The flooding is expected to last for the next two weeks, so everyone is advised to plan ahead if they are going on a long road-trip. You can check Waze or Google Maps for alternative roads to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
