The rising numbers have many on edge, urging heightened awareness, especially when it comes to protecting children from potential dangers.
One incident that caught attention recently was shared by an expat mother, Anabelle, through a video on @anabelle_co. While walking with her family in the Mont Kiara area, Anabelle recounted a strange encounter with a man who approached her while she was momentarily separated from her family, distracted by her phone.
The man asked for something, but Anabelle, recognising him from a previous encounter where he was holding a sign and approaching cars, chose not to engage.
Her concern stems from the fact that children in the area often walk alone, and she worries that such individuals may pose a risk, particularly to the vulnerable. She described the man as well-spoken in English and mentioned her fear that he might target elderly people or children walking in the area.
Anabelle shared her experience to alert the Mont Kiara community to be vigilant, especially since others had also reported encounters with the same man. Many claimed he would show an “injured” hand to solicit money from passersby.
