MERCY Malaysia is mobilising its volunteers from the Sabah Chapter in response to the serious development in Sabah due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a report by the Minister of Health yesterday (28 September), the most affected areas in Sabah were Tawau with 759 cases, Semporna with 309 cases, Lahad Datu with 295 cases, and Kunak with 75 cases, which also involves 962,661 people altogether in the communities.
MERCY Malaysia will be assisting the local Klinik Kesihatan with the plan of conducting 1,200 COVID-19 testings in Lahad Datu. They will also be providing hygiene kits and food packs to the affected communities in the surrounding areas.

MERCY Malaysia strongly encourages everyone to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) like: washing your hands frequently – or keep it sanitised, maintain physical distancing, wear face masks, and if you are travelling from the affected areas, please self-quarantine to break the chain and avoid from spreading it to other places.
On Monday (28 September), Malaysia recorded 115 new COVID-19 cases, bringing our total number of recorded cases to 11,034, with over 1,000 active cases.
